So if one is in a big roundtable conversation, one should play it safe by
identifying every transmission he/she makes?
One of the locals here would ID _every_ transmission he made in even a two
person conversation... Every single comment back and forth with someone would
be followed by K6**. Every once in a while he would slip up, though. At least
he didn't keep saying "for ID."

Successful news cast from Wireless Hill in W.A.
----------------------------------------------
Our congratulations to W.A.A.D.C.A. for the success of the
RTTY news cast from Wireless Hill in Perth. It is pleasing to
hear that the coverage is so wide with excellent copy received
all over the metropolitan area. It is indeed an excellent site
and the Perth amateurs should get good value from any and all
services provided from there. That is what you can get when
people are prepared to work and do something to help fellow
amateurs in the hobby. Again, our heartiest congratulations
for a job well done.
We also hear of the social side of the hobby in Perth, with
the regular lunchtime get-together of the Old Timers group. Be
nice if we had that here in New South Wales. As far as I know,
not being an Old Timer, is that it is a case of bring your
sandwiches to Amateur Radio House, not meet at a place with a
good meal. Of course, the socialising will be similar but the
venue could be a great deal better, hi hi.
Thanks to Clem VK6CW for the above information

Subject: FCC licensing delays
To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
I heard of a person who had terminal cancer but went and passed the test
for a ham license. They asked the FCC for a special callsign for the
person to operate due to their short life expectancy. I think there was
not an affirmative response and the person died a few days before the
license arrived in the mail. This is a terrible example of the amount of
time required. Something sure needs to be done about this.
The problem is that, in today's commercialized society, the big whigs
don't consider ham radio to be that important anymore.

How? A lawsuit? Internally?
Is there a precedent for forcing someone to make public a private repeater?

On second look, you're right about the 5v being there all the time.
But I'll repeat it again; I have the RS mike plugged in all the time,
and haven't noticed any appreciable difference in battery life between
it and the Alinco mike.

Is the "wake-up" signal to the power-saver circuitry in the HTX-202 derived
from the audio, or does it come from the RF/IF sections in the radio?
I don't own this radio, nor do I have access to one, but now I'm wondering...

Bob, oak.oakland.edu has mod files in /pub/hamradio/mods for the Uniden 2510.
Hope this helps.

I'm told there is a FTP/Telnet/Whatever site that one may look at to find frequiencies. These would not just be the regular scanner book listings but business listings as well.

Please! How is this obstruction of justice? Obstruction of justice involves
concealment or deception of an illegal activity - if I tell someone there is a
radar trap ahead, I am telling them to AVOID performing said illegal act.
(Besides, aren't most radar traps an "obstruction of justice", in layman's
terms?)
