  58. person conversation...  Every single comment back and forth with someone would
  59. be followed by K6**.  Every once in a while he would slip up, though.  At least
  60. he didn't keep saying "for ID."

  92. Successful news cast from Wireless Hill in W.A.

  94. Our  congratulations  to W.A.A.D.C.A.  for the success of  the
  95. RTTY news cast from Wireless Hill in Perth.  It is pleasing to
  96. hear that the coverage is so wide with excellent copy received
  97. all over the metropolitan area. It is indeed an excellent site
  98. and the Perth amateurs should get good value from any and  all
  99. services  provided from there.  That is what you can get  when
  100. people  are  prepared to work and do something to help  fellow
  101. amateurs in the hobby.  Again,  our heartiest  congratulations
  102. for a job well done.

  104. We  also hear of the social side of the hobby in  Perth,  with
  105. the regular lunchtime get-together of the Old Timers group. Be
  106. nice if we had that here in New South Wales. As far as I know,
  107. not  being  an Old Timer,  is that it is a case of bring  your
  108. sandwiches to Amateur Radio House,  not meet at a place with a
  109. good meal.  Of course, the socialising will be similar but the
  110. venue could be a great deal better, hi hi.

  121. Contest period: from 0000Z Saturday to 0000Z Monday (48 hours)
  122.  
  123. Maximum operating time allowed: 30 hours for Single op entries
  124. and  SWLs.There  are no restrictions on the duration  of  rest
  125. periods.  Multi-op  stations  may operate the  entire  contest
  126. period. Summary of operating times must be submitted with each
  127. score.
  128.  
  129. Bands: 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10M. (five bands).
  130.  
  131. Classes: (A) Single-op; (B) Multi-op; and (C) SWL.
  132.  
  133. Modes:  All digital modes permitted. RTTY, AMTOR, FEC, Packet,
  134. Pactor, Clover, G-TOR.

  141. coming  up,  one  on ANARTS Contest weekend,  and  another  in

  148. It's  on  again,  one of the friendliest Field  Days  you  can
  149. attend and here are the details:

  151. Date: Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 June

  153. Venue:  New  Scout  Hall  on Buller Street  next  to  Westport
  154. Bowling Club,  on the water front. Near the centre of town and
  155. the Settlement shopping area.

  157.   Programme: Saturday June 11

  159.   3pm  doors  open  for pre-registration,  there  will  be  no
  160. displays or exhibits
  161.  
  162.   4pm  2 metre fox hunt trial so that visitors can get to know
  163. the area

  165.   6pm roast dinner at the venue so everyone can talk about the
  166.   happenings over the past year
  167.

  196. The Twin Cities Radio and Electronics Club is hosting the 1994
  197. Riverina Field Day in Albury on the 13th August .
  198.  
  199. The location is the Murray High School,  Kaitlers Road Albury.
  200. Doors  open  at 9.00 am.  There will be  exhibits  by  various
  201. suppliers  of  nice NEW gadgets as well as the opportunity  to
  202. obtain  that  coveted  pre-loved  special.  An  invitation  is
  203. extended  to  all  amateurs  living in  VK1,VK2  and  VK3  and
  204. especially  to  those  amateurs who may be visiting  our  fair

  222. Solar activity was low on 14th, and very low for the remainder
  223. of the period.
  224.  
  225. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to unsettled
  226. 13th-14th,  and  17th-19th  May.  The field was  unsettled  to
  227. active 15th-16th, with minor storm levels at times on 15th.
  228.  
  229. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were mostly near
  230. predicted  values.  Enhanced periods of up to 50 per cent were
  231. observed on 14th-15th, and up to 30 per cent on 18th-19th May.
  232. Depressions  of up to 30 per cent were observed on  14th-15th,
  233. and  again on 18th-19th May.  Spread F was noted on 16th-19th,
  234. and  sporadic  E may have degraded F layer  communications  on
  235. 16th.

  460.              Solar activity continued at a very low level. Region 7722
  461.        (N08W66) was stable and Region 7727 (N09E01) decayed slightly.

  463.             Solar activity forecast:  solar activity should continue
  464.        at a very low level for the duration of the forecast period.

  466.             The geomagnetic field was quiet at mid latitudes and quiet
  467.        to slightly unsettled at high latitudes. Energetic electron
  468.        fluxes continued at moderate to high levels.

  611. I heard of a person who had terminal cancer but went and passed the test 
  612. for  a ham license.  They asked the FCC for a special callsign for the 
  613. person to operate due to their short life expectancy.  I think there was 
  614. not an affirmative response and the person died a few days before the 
  615. license arrived in the mail. This is a terrible example of the amount of 
  616. time required.  Something sure needs to be done about this.  
  617. The problem is that, in today's commercialized society, the big whigs 
  618. don't consider ham radio to be that important anymore.

  679. On second look, you're right about the 5v being there all the time. 
  680. But I'll repeat it again; I have the RS mike plugged in all the time,
  681. and haven't noticed any appreciable difference in battery life between
  682. it and the Alinco mike.
